Summertime Treat

Watermelon is one of those fruits that just reminds me of my childhood. We ate it all. the. time.  That’s where I learned that adding salt, only makes it sweeter and juicier to eat.  It’s the only way I can eat it, with just a little sprinkle on top.

I know some people think it’s weird or gross to add salt, but really it does the same thing for watermelon, as it does other sweet foods- brings out the natural sweetness. The key is adding a little, not a lot. Try it and see if you like it. You may become hooked, so don’t blame me. :0)

I don’t know what it is about this juicy, pink sweet fruit, OK I do, but I can eat the whole thing by myself.  I’ll cut up half for myself and put the other half away. Once I’m done with my half, I’ll open the refrigerator, slice me one more little piece off the top, close the refrigerator and repeat 10 times.  It’s like I’m a little kid sneaking chocolate cake, only I’m not a little kid and I don’t like chocolate all that much.

Anyway, I always end up taking the other half, well what’s left of it, and eating that too.  My stomach will now look like a watermelon and my bladder will stay full for the rest of the day, but let me just tell you, it’s soo worth it!
