Top 5 Photos of 2011

Snake Letter N the Grass

Lots of people were looking for the letter ‘N’ in nature. This picture had the most hits out of all the pictures on my blog.

Juniper Tree…

Just like myself, lots of you found the needles on Juniper trees to be interesting.

Chipmunk Hole

Many of you were searching for chipmunk holes. Perhaps, you too, found a chipmunk wrecking havoc, in your yard, last summer?

Can you see it?

This Crane photo received lots of views, which surprised me because at the time I was shooting this bird, I had no idea it was a Crane.

Creamy Cavatappi and Cheese

This photo had almost as much hits as the letter ‘n’ photo. Sadly, I never did get around to adding the recipe. (sorry) must. add. recipe.

According to all of you, those are my Top 5 Photos from 2011!! Thank you!!

I started this blog to learn the other settings on my point-and-shoot camera, in particular the manual mode. My goal was to shoot and post a picture every day in order to do just that. Well, I had good intentions and, things started out great! The weather was warm, the daylight hours were long, and I was out shooting and posting photos daily, even weekly!

Once the weather turned cold, the daylight hours became short, and I got a new camera, things slowly went downhill. I’d only post one or two photos a week, if that! I became overwhelmed, unmotivated, and frustrated with the many buttons and dials on my new camera, not doing what I wanted them to do (why does the flash automatically pop up? why won’t it shoot a picture when I’m pressing down on the shutter button?), but that was in 2011!

This year, I’m determined to learn the dials on my new camera and get adjusted to the kit lens that came with it, before upgrading. I think just sticking to learning one setting at a time, is my best bet. I might share some tips and hints with you, that I may learn along the way. I’m far from an expert so, I won’t be throwing out tips left and right, just a few here and there along the way. Everyone learns, explains, and comprehends things differently, so maybe you’ll be able to learn a thing or two from me and me from you, as I (or we) learn them.

I’m not quite ready to put away my point-and-shoot, so I’ll still be using it from time to time. Maybe I’ll do a comparison of sorts, with my point-and-shoot and my DSLR. Same picture, same settings, different cameras… what I like and don’t like about them, that type of thing.

I also plan to re-shoot the top 5 photos from 2011, with my new camera and see if I can’t improve on them.

Thank you for following along with me in 2011, I really do appreciate you all who take the time to come and check out my little ol’ blog. I hope you’ll continue to follow along with me in 2012, to see how much or how little I’ve improved!
